Chia seeds are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids and are high in fibre, with around 5.4 g per tablespoon (we need ~30 g fibre per day). When mixed into fluids they absorb the liquid to form a gel-like consistency.

If you’re having issues with constipation, this is a gentle way to encourage your bowel motions along.

Make this in the evening so it’s ready to go first thing in the morning!

Ingredients

  • 1 fruit tea bag (berry flavour recommended)
  • 250 ml boiling water
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

Method

  1. Add the boiling water to the fruit tea bag and let it steep until cool.
  2. Mix in the chia seeds and let stand for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Stir again, cover, and refrigerate until chilled.
  4. Once chilled, stir once more and enjoy.
